I got a great job thanks to Via's 16-19 Jobs site
Ashleigh Reid, 19, joined Forbes Solicitors 18 months ago through Via’s 16-19 Jobs Team. Ashleigh works as a Trainee Office Clerk, based at Forbes’ group head office at Rutherford House, Blackburn.
Ashleigh, from Oswaldtwistle, completed her GCSEs at St Christopher’s C of E High School, Accrington and A Levels at St Mary’s College, Blackburn, before looking for work.
Upon seeing the Forbes vacancy advertised by the 16-19 Jobs team, Ashleigh applied and after being shortlisted, she made it through to the interview and work based assessments stage and was then appointed to the role.
Ashleigh said: “When I started looking for work, I was looking for an entry level position and I found that when using the traditional methods of looking for a job, like searching online or via recruitment companies, I found it hard to filter out the jobs that need much more experience than I had. With the 16-19 job vacancies advertised online and in the Connexions centres, I knew that they were all closer to my level and the team were really helpful and matched me to the role.”
18 months in to the role, Ashleigh provides admin support and services for 70 staff at Forbes’ Head Office and also undertakes a ‘file closing’ role which sees her dealing with important information on a daily basis.
Whilst in post, Ashleigh has completed an NVQ in Business and Administration and a touch typing qualification supported by Forbes. She is now embarking on a law degree part time via Blackburn College.
